Why the OIS (object informations software) became necessary?

Example from the fire brigade Saalfelden (Salzburg):

Because of the structure of Saalfelden - 35 districts with 3700 objects - it was increasingly difficult for the fire brigade to find the points of use in a very short amount of time. In some districts there are no street names. So there was a need to find a software solution to solve this problem.

Besause there was no software on the market which were nearly affordable, it was worked on an own, lower priced solution.

Solution in 2 phases:

Phase 1:
The responsilbe people for IT in the fire brigade Saalfelden created an extensive concept for an objekt information software. The target was to develop a software which is not only customized for the fire brigade saalfelden but also suitable for all fire brigades without any problem.

This part was developed by HC Software (www.hcsoftware.de).

Phase 2:
Connecting the objekt informations software (OIS) to a GIS software (geographic information system). With PROGIS there was found a partner to implement this part oft the solution.

After serveral years of planning and development the fire brigade Saalfelden started running the whole system at the beginning of 2007.
